Workshop A:  “Seuss on Stage, Jr.”

 June 23 - 27     9:00 am -1:00 pm

Join us as we explore the wacky world of Dr. Seuss. 

This workshop is an excellent introduction to theatre

basics, including characterization, movement,

improvisation, and design.  Family and friends are invited to

join us for a showcase of the week’s work on Friday, June 27.

 

Workshop B:     “Disney on Stage” - July 7 - 11     9:00 am - 1:00 pm   

$125 ($110 if registered by 5/14/08)

Help us bring to life classic and new fairy tales as told through the movies of Walt Disney.  This workshop will use familiar Disney stories as a backdrop for exploring characterization, movement, improvisation, and music.  Family and friends are invited to join us for a showcase of the week’s work on Friday, July 11.

 

GRADES 4 - 6

 

Workshop C:     “Imagination Ensemble” -  June 23 - 27     9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Teamwork is the name of the game as students learn the basic tools of the actor through exploration of character, movement, improvisation, and games.  Family and friends are invited to join us for a showcase of the week’s work on Friday, June 27.

 

Workshop D:     “Seuss on Stage” - July 14 - 18     9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Students will work as an ensemble using teamwork and imagination to bring the wacky world of Dr. Seuss to life.  This workshop is an excellent overview of theatre basics, including characterization, movement, improvisation and design.  Family and friends are invited to join us for a showcase of the week’s work on Fri., July 18.

 

GRADES 7 - 8

 

Workshop E:     “Young Shakespeareans” - July 7 - 11     9:00 am - 1:00 pm    

$125 ($110 if registered by 5/14/08)

This workshop will introduce Shakespeare at the junior high level by working specifically with scenes from Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”  This dreamy, fantastical story will give young actors the opportunity to play with language, rhythms, plot, and characterization.  Family and friends are invited to join us for a showcase of the week’s work on Friday, July 11.

 

Workshop F:     “The Next Generation” - July 14 - 18     9:00 am - 1:00 pm    

$125 ($110 if registered by 5/14/08)

This workshop will cover the basics of play production.  Participants will work in small groups to write and produce their own plays.  Join us for an exploration of the various facets of theatre including:  acting, directing, costume design, set design, properties, lighting effects, staging, and music design.  Family and friends are invited to join us for a showcase of the week’s work on Friday, July 18.

  Students will participate in a series of workshops exploring the various aspects of theatre production.  
  In addition to workshops, students will be assigned positions within the Idaho Repertory Theatre
  company, according to interests and strengths.  Positions include: technical crew, teaching assistants,
  and acting company.  To ensure an in-depth experience for participants, enrollment will be limited.  
  Admittance to the program is by audition/interview only.
